[9.176] Πάλιν εἰ ἔστι τὸ θεῖον, ἤτοι ἔχει ἀρετὴν ἢ οὐκ ἔχει. καὶ εἰ μὲν οὐκ ἔχει, φαῦλόν ἐστι τὸ θεῖον καὶ κακοδαιμονικόν, ὅπερ ἄτοπον. εἰ δὲ ἔχει, ἔσται τι τοῦ θεοῦ κρεῖττον˙ ὃν γὰρ τρόπον ἡ τοῦ ἵππου ἀρετὴ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἵππου ἐστὶ κρείττων καὶ ἡ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀρετὴ τοῦ ἔχοντός ἐστι κρείττων, τὸν αὐτὸν τρόπον ἡ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀρετὴ καὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ ἔσται κρείττων.
